Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing practice. It’s nothing magical or mystical, something woo-woo or a practice restricted to a certain few.

We can all feel our energy, if we take the time to notice it.

Unlike massage, where there’s a physical touch, Reiki is all about the hands but it’s also (most of the time) hands off. This can be a little disconcerting for people looking for something tangible, who need to see something concrete to believe it. But think of it like the breath, you can’t see the breath (well … maybe you can on a cold day) but you know it’s there and you also know how important it is.

As a reiki practitioner I’m just a conduit. With your permission, I let positive, healing energy flow to you through my palms. I can’t control your reaction but through the practice of Reiki I act as a channel to help you heal on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. I do this through placing my hands above various places on your body (with a particular focus on the seven main chakras).

You’re likely to feel calm and relaxed, you may see colors or feel warmth or you may feel something completely different and unique to you. Just like our physical bodies react differently to a yoga session, and our minds to a meditation practice, everyone is going to have their own experience.

FAQs

I’VE NEVER HAD REIKI BEFORE. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

The experience really varies by person. In general you’ll likely feel a sense of calm and relaxation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?

Please have a yoga mat and cushion to sit on to begin with and to place under your head when you lie down. Please make sure no animals are in the room during the during the session.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A SESSION?

This is a tricky one to answer. It’s really up to you and how you’re feeling. I’d suggest 1-2 times a week but if 1-2 times a month is more realistic for your schedule then do what’s best for you.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER A SESSION?

Relax. Sometimes people will feel tired after a session, sometimes they feel energetic. We’re all different and will feel different after a session. That said, relaxing is always going to be good advice. It’s something we don’t do often enough and something we all need to do more. I’d suggest (if you have a family) telling them the session is two hours and taking the extra time for yourself.

DO I HAVE TO KEEP MY CAMERA ON?

For individual sessions I’d strongly recommend it. In fact, it might be a wee bit strange if it’s off. Just like a private in-person session you’re paying for the personalized advice, which may be a little hard to give if I can’t see you. It’s totally fine to turn off your audio though, especially if you want to play your own music.

WHEN DOES MY BUNDLE EXPIRE?

You have two months from your first session to complete all four sessions.

WHAT’S YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you let me know you can’t make it 24 hours before your session I’d be happy to reschedule or provide a refund upon request. If you cancel within 24 hours and would like a refund I can refund 50% of the session cost. Any “no shows” are charged 100% of the session fee.
